I had an opportunity to sit down with the Revs. Ellen and Kurt Huber for a conversation that we recorded. In it, you will hear a bit about where they are seeing and feeling God's joy on the Cheyenne River Episcopal Mission and what they think about when considering how God has prepared them "for such a time as this."

On Sunday, October 27th, I enjoyed being with the Revs. Ellen and Kurt Huber and the faith communities of St. John's in Eagle Butte and St. Peter's in Thunder Butte.
At St. John's -- which is the only congregation in our diocese where you can get coffee and donuts DURING CHURCH for those interested -- (eat your heart out, mega-churches with Starbucks in your parish halls) -- there were almost fifty people present with both familiar and new faces! After the Collect was prayed, Shirley Dog Eagle's two-year-old granddaughter approached me, said "Hi," and gave me a fist bump. I guess she liked the prayer! Following the service, we had a wonderful meal and a time to catch up. I particularly appreciated an opportunity to sit down with Deaon Iva Traversie and visit with her.
We then went to St. Peter's in Thunder Butte, a church recently worked on by a GREAT mission team whose members came from the Diocese of West Texas, Texas, and Connecticut! Some of the pictures posted below, which were not posted earlier, are from this mission team's time there. We also had a good number of people in the congregation, and afterward, during a meal, three or four people stopped by and were welcomed with open arms to join us!
I wish to thank everyone at St. John's and St. Peter's for a wonderful visit. May our Lord bless their clergy, their lay leadership, and everyone in these two faithful communities!
