On Thursday, June 27, right before the Bishops Against Gun Violence and the Youth Presence led a prayer vigil in downtown Louisville against gun violence, deputies received placards with the places, dates, and numbers killed and injured in mass shootings.
South Dakota did not receive a placard (there were no mass shootings in this state in the last two years), but many of the other dioceses did receive them. This is to bring home the need to constantly be vigilant and taking action against gun violence that rips apart families, communities, congregations, and dioceses.
Please pray for those lost to gun violence, for those injured, for all who have suffered, and for their families and communities.
This is the stack of placards for the Diocese of Mississippi.
