This weekend will explore the physical dimensions of speaking and singing in a worship setting. In addition to speaking about how to practice and prepare for the various kinds of speaking roles that a worship service requires (announcements, leading the liturgy, preaching, reading scripture), this weekend will also talk about how to project one's voice, pace oneself, and breath properly. This course is also intended for anyone who leads worship in a context without instrumental musicians or who works with musicians but would like to know more about planning and preparing music.
While the course is required of all in the NSM Course of Study, this weekend is particularly encouraged for anyone who serves as a lay reader, leads the daily office, or for clergy seeking to further their own ministerial development.
Fulfills the "Congregational Speech and Song Requirement" for those in the Course of Study.
